Today has been, unequivocally, a ghastly day.

I’m writing this as I finish my shift at work, one I started eight hours ago. Although my brain and body are both feeling as if my shift started eighty hours ago. Never before has a day dragged quite so much as this one.

I arrived at work at about 9.40, some twenty minutes before my shift was due to start. I was watching the awesome Young Bucks vs. American Wolves tag-team match from this weeks ROH show I sat at my desk (I was watching YouTube on my phone, in case any of my superiors are concerned by my internet use at work). I didn’t catch the end because our team was called into a room for an impromptu meeting by our manager.

Turns out that our manager quit today. He explained his reasons in this meeting and then said goodbye; he was placed on gardening leave and left the office straight away. To say that the team was shocked would be an understatement. We’ve not exactly been a hive of productivity since then. We’ve sulked, we’ve talked a lot and most importantly we bought lots of doughnuts and chocolate.

The whole affair got me thinking about my own position here and about what I wanted to do with my so called career. Do I want to remain in this position and suffer the same frustrations that have caused my boss to leave? Do I want to change teams within the office and suffer the same frustrations but from a different view? Do I want to move to a different position within the company and suffer different frustrations? Do I want to leave the company completely and completely change my career path? Do I want to leave the UK and find work in the Far East? Do I want to ask myself any more questions?

For now though these problems must wait; I want a stress free and relaxing weekend. Tonight I will crash on the sofa in front of the television with some comfort food and cuddle up to my beautiful fiancée. Tomorrow we’re off for a massage (no, really) and to pick up our Christmas decorations from my parents loft. Then, on Sunday, I’m due a day of catching up with House and playing Pro Evo. Should make for a great weekend, especially if the Saints can pick up a win over Northampton in the FA Cup tomorrow!
