Well, it’s been a while. For that I must apologise. I’ve been far too busy working, moving into my new flat with my girlfriend, spending too much time watching the Southampton takeover saga and… well, other stuff. Being in a new place without ‘net access has played it’s part as well. Fortunately we go live on Sunday, so hurrah for that.

Now, on to the main reason for this post. Fish. Not just any old fish, mind, I’m talking Birds Eye’s Fresh stuff. Specifically their Bake to Perfection range. (That’s BAKE to Perfection, not BACK to Perfection. I don’t want my Fish problems confused with the film Tremors 3) You may have seen the adverts on the TV. It’s all in a bag, stick it in the oven… Simple. Kat was very keen to try them, as was I. But can we find them in the shops? Can we balls. So today I drafted an e-mail to Birdseye themselves:

Hello lovely Birdseye peeps!

I’m stuck in a bit of a quandary with one of your products and I was hoping that you may be able to help me out.

Myself and my lovely girlfriend, Kat, have noticed your adverts for your new Bake to Perfection range of fish. It looks very nice and we would love to give it a try. North Atlantic Haddock Fillets with a lemon and chive butter sauce; sounds delightful.

So we headed to our local supermarket, Tesco. Sadly they do not stock this range. The next time we went shopping we went to Sainsbury’s. Turns out they don’t stock it either. Neither do our nearest Asda. Or the Co-Op. Or Morrisons. Granted, the Morrisons one is just a rumour, I’ve not actually been there, but a friend assures me she couldn’t find it there either.

Can you tell me, is there anywhere in or around the Southampton area that you actually sell this range? Your adverts have done the trick, at least for me and my girlfriend, because we both want to try this lovely simple fish of yours. But the adverts seem pointless if nowhere sells the product.

I look forward to hearing back from you regarding this matter.

Yours fish-starvedly,

Alan Galpin

(PS. This is the 2nd attempt at me sending this email, I got a delivery failure report the first time. It would appear even the internets doesn’t want me to has your fishies)

I shall report back once I have a reply!
